Production sites
A high priority in all KMC activities is the quality of both raw materials and finished products.
KMC had more than 60 years of experience with potato starch factories in Denmark before the company opened a factory in Inner Mongolia in 1996, and expanded operations in 2001 to include the production of tapioca starch in Vietnam. By the end of 2003, KMC Granules will also have extended the scope of its production to include potato granules and potato flakes.

KMC Tapioca Starch Co. Ltd.
The prospect of continued quota limitations on production within the European Union, and the growing market share of tapioca starch, led KMC to investigate the possibilities of taking up tapioca production. With effect from 1 September 2001, KMC acquired a controlling interest in a tapioca starch factory in Vietnam, now named KMC Tapioca Starch Co. Ltd. This factory currently has an annual production of 20,000–25,000 tonnes of tapioca starch, with production facilities that are being upgraded on an ongoing basis and a quality assurance department that gives meeting the high standards set by the European Union a high priority.

The factory is specifically designed to be flexible and efficient in order to meet customer demands for both top quality and rapid response to changing market requirements . The company can produce granules to any required size and can mill flakes to the exact particle size the customer wants
The factory includes a 6000 m2 raw material storage facility that makes sure the potatoes are stored under the best possible conditions in order to ensure the high quality that all KMC products are known for.
In April 2004 the production was included in KMC’s ISO 9001 certification and was also HACCP certified according to DS 3027.

KMC Derivat
The manufacture of modified starch, especially for the food industry, requires top-quality production equipment, the latest technology and versatile, well-trained staff who have quality and food safety as top priorities. KMC Derivat lives up to all these parameters in full. The production is included in KMC’s ISO 9001 certification and was HACCP certified according to DS 3027in April 2004. KMC Derivat was established in 1985 in order to meet the increasing demand for specialised potato starch products. A constantly increasing part of KMC’s turnover now consists of modified starch. The latest development as far as derivatives are concerned is the establishment of KMC’s ColdSwell plant. This made KMC the first company in Europe to use spray drying in the production of cold swelling potato starches. This state-of-the-art equipment helps KMC maintain its leading position in the market, with products that satisfy even the most discerning customer.
