Protein consists
of amino acids. These are the building blocks that make up the bodies
of both humans and animals. There are 20 different amino acids, some of
which are essential for life. Potato protein provides a well-balanced
distribution of the amino acids that are important in animal feed. Potato protein is a by-product of the production of potato starch. You begin by cleaning and washing the potatoes, before subsequently grating them. This results in a mixture that consists of fruit water, pulp and starch. A decanter then removes the fruit water from the pulp and the starch. Once you have separated off the fruit water, you lower the pH value and heat the fruit water. The protein then precipitates and you can use a decanter to separate it from water, following which you dry the recovered protein. Besides adding potato protein to feed, you can also use it for fermentation processes in cases when you want a source of nitrogen. |
